Beltane + the Goddess, Qetesh

While Beltane and Qetesh are not from the same spiritual practices, I find myself honoring both. They both represent the honoring of sacred sexuality and partnership.

Beltane is the pagan festival celebrated on May 1. This is the halfway point between the spring equinox + summer solstice. In pagan tradition, Beltane represents the sacred union between the God + Goddess. A union of the masculine + feminine within each of us. This day celebrates life, sensuality, + abundance.

During Beltane, Flowers are worn in the hair and spread about the home to represent and honor mother nature. Bonfires are lit for cleansing + banishing and to encourage growth + protection. Green is worn to represent growth in life, red for passion, and white for peace. This is a day to dance, feast, + drink with your friends. You may find yourself doing a Maypole dance at festival.

The veil is very thin during this time. This means we are able to communicate and feel spirit closely. Place items on your altar for those you’re calling in. The fae are very playful this time of year. If you don’t already know, the fae can be fun, playful, + tricksters. Be sure you are being called to work with them prior to calling them in. Honor the fairy circles that you find in nature. Leave them undisturbed. Honor your own ancestors + guides on your altar.

The Goddess Qetesh is also honored during this time, April 29-May 1. Qetesh showed up for me a couple weeks ago and she showed up during her time of celebration as well. What an honor.

She brings in the honoring of sacred sexuality and orgasmic manifestations. This is a time to honor sacred pleasure, sacred partnerships, and to transmute energy through orgasm. The sacral chakra is the energy center for creation. When you allow sacred pleasure, you open up the creative energy in your sacral chakra allowing for manifestations. You can honor Qetesh on your altar with a blue candle, lotus flowers, tin or copper, + symbols of lions + snakes. Allow yourself with time in sacred self pleasure surrounded by flowers and/or in sacred sensuality with your partner.

Ways to celebrate. However you choose to honor this time of year is up to you. There is no right or wrong way. You can do a big ritual or simply set up your altar and get your feet on the earth. I recommend spreading flowers through your home + altar, light a white, red, green, or blue candle, and build a fire. Write down + burn anything you’d like to banish and release in a fire today. Fears, doubts, insecurities, old beliefs + patterns, and relationships no longer serving you. Keep these ashes for protection spells later. Spend time in nature. Spend time with your coven feasting and dancing. Definitely practice sacred pleasure today. At the point of orgasm, visualize or state in your mind what you are calling in for yourself. Much Love + Positive Vibes.
